Drama Lindsaye Andersona Kdyby je typickým produktem doby, v níž vzniklo, tedy neklidných a revolučních šedesátých let. Prakticky z každého záběru lze cítit obrovský vztek mladé generace, který může zchladit jen bourání hodnot, na nichž v té době stála britská střední třída.

Film se stal kultovním především díky tomu, že se Andersonovi podařilo příběhu dodat surreálný nádech, za což vděčí zejména formálnímu zpracování a vynikající kameře Miroslava Ondříčka. Ve chvíli, kdy revoluční události nabírají obrátky, film se anarchisticky rozpadá do jednotlivých záběrů, neustále mění svou barevnost od sépiové po plnobarevnou, střídání reálných a fantazijních záběrů je stále rychlejší.(oficiální text distributora - zkráceno)
