In een schoonheidssalon in Beiroet kruisen de levens van vijf vrouwen elkaar. De schoonheidssalon fungeert als een kleurrijke en sensuele microkosmos waar ze elkaar hun bekommernissen toevertrouwen. Layla houdt van Rabih, een getrouwde man. Nisrine is een moslima, ze gaat trouwen, maar is geen maagd meer. Rima voelt zich aangetrokken tot vrouwen. Haar leven volgt het ritme van de bezoekjes van een beeldschone klant. Jamale weigert ouder te worden. Rose heeft haar eigen leven opgeofferd om voor haar zieke zus te zorgen. In de salon gaan de levendige en intieme gesprekken over: mannen, seks en het moederschap. Dit alles tussen het knippen van haar en epileren met caramel.
In 1912 huurt de Duitser Wilhelm Uhde, een verzamelaar van kunstwerken, een appartement in Senlis om te schrijven en uit te rusten van zijn drukke leven in Parijs. Hij neemt de 48-jarige Séraphine in dienst als huishoudster. Korte tijd later merkt hij tot zijn verbazing bij plaatselijke notabelen een doek dat geschilderd is door zijn eigen huishoudster.
"Eros" bestaat uit drie segmenten waarin liefde en seks centraal staan. In "Il Filo pericoloso Delle Cose" (van Michelangelo Antonioni) wordt het leven geportretteerd van een van een uit elkaar gegroeid stel. "Equilibrium" (van Steven Soderbergh) schetst het verhaal van verkoper uit de jaren '50, die wordt 'geteisterd' door erotische dromen met een onbekende vrouw. "La Mano" (van Wong Kar Wai) vertelt het verhaal van een jonge kleermaker die zijn liefde voor een meisje van goede afkomst nooit beantwoord heeft gezien.
La Siciliana Ribelle is gebaseerd op het waargebeurde verhaal van Rita Atria, de dochter van Don Michele, een Siciliaanse maffiabaas. Ze is pas 7 als haar vader, vanwege een strijd binnen de Cosa Nostra, voor haar ogen wordt neergeschoten. Haar familie krijgt bescherming van een andere maffiabaas, maar uitgerekend hij blijkt achter de moord op Rita’s vader te zitten. Als Rita’s broer tien jaar later dood wordt aangetroffen verbreekt ze de omerta – de zwijgplicht binnen de maffia – en stapt ze naar de politie. Maar de prijs die Rita daarvoor betaalt is groot.
Het is 1952. Katya is een arme, wanhopige weduwe. Ze woont in de Sovjet-Unie en voedt haar zoontje, genaamd Sanya, alleen op. Op een dag ontmoet Katya Tolyan, een aantrekkelijke officier. Andre starts as a teacher in a remote mountain village in Albania. His first task is to choose one of two communist slogans. He picks the shorter one, which is appreciated by his class, because they have to build the slogan on the hillside using whitewashed rocks. However, this means that the longer slogan goes to Diana, the French teacher to whom Andre is attracted. Andre gets on the wrong side of the communist party boss of the village, when he stands up for an unjustly accused goat herdsman, whom he had befriended. The boss is determined to take his revenge on Andre.
A long time ago, a young Russian general chose to sacrifice hundreds of birds to burn Moscow and save his motherland from the troops of Napoleon. For this feat, he was hailed as a hero by the people of Russia but regarded an executioner by the winged creatures. Now fifty years older the aging general leads a drab life. To make matters worse, the descendants of the sacrificed birds keep attacking him. One day however a meets an engaging little dog who soon becomes his faithful companion. Both friends decide to break the curse plaguing the general's life : they start militating for all the caged birds of Russia to be set free.
