The film is set in Tuscany during the Black Death. As in the Decameron, ten young Florentines take refuge from the plague. But instead of telling stories, they have lusty adventures, bawdy exchanges, romance and swordplay. There are randy nuns, Saracen pirates, and a sexy cow.

Wir befinden uns zu Beginn der 1930er Jahre: Die beiden Anführer Nesib, Emir von Hobeika, und Amar, Sultan von Salmaah, haben nach einer verheerenden Schlacht, die Nesib für sich entscheiden konnte, einen Friedensvertrag ausgehandelt. Dieser sieht vor, dass zwischen den beiden Reichen eine Art Sicherheitszone eingerichtet wird, die keiner betreten darf. Weiterhin muss Amar Nesib seine Söhne Saleeh und Auda als Unterpfand übergeben. Diese wachsen bei Nesib zu jungen Männern heran. Als ausgerechnet in der Sicherheitszone das schwarze Gold entdeckt wird, gerät Auda zum Spielball der beiden Stammesfürsten.

Beginning in South Africa under the apartheid regime, the film follows a young girl who flees the country after a violent confrontation with a local white landowner in which her father is killed. She settles in Abidjan, where, ten years later, she has become a university student. As part of her studies, she visits the Taureg tribe on the edge of the Sahara before at last returning to post-Apartheid South Africa.

Marie (Marlene Jobert) is a pretty female physician who attracts the strong romantic interest of two brothers during World War I in this uninspired drama by Gérard Vergez. The brothers meet her when she is on duty in Turkey -- one brother is stationed there and the other becomes her ambulance driver. Since Marie has just lost her husband in combat, she is not at first open to another relationship but finally begins an affair with the older brother. Jealousy rears its ugly head, and the younger and older brother start to compete for her favors. She is eventually separated from the two brothers after the oldest -- imprisoned for supposed sympathy with the Russians -- is sprung from jail. Marie is later imprisoned herself, and it will be a long time before she is able to find out the fate of those she knew during the days of combat, including the two brothers.
