Sarah Morton is een bekende Britse schrijfster van detectiveverhalen. Moe van Londen en inspiratie zoekend voor haar nieuwe roman accepteert zij een aanbod van haar uitgever John Bosload om in zijn huis te verblijven in het Zuiden van Frankrijk.
