希腊神话故事：大力神海克力斯
本片讲述西西里的没落贵族洁法洛男爵对现在的胖妻罗沙莉亚感到厌恶，同时发现其漂亮的表妹安琪拉正钟情于自己，他想离开他的妻子。然而当时意大利的法律是不充许离婚的。所以他想出了一条毒计，用妻子以前的情人关系制造红杏出墙的情形，然后再杀死她。在当时极重体面的社会情况下他的判刑也会比较轻。事情一切都在他的预料中发展，男爵也理所当然的追杀了他的结发妻子，而他却只判了一年半的刑。等他出来和他表妹结合时，面临的是同样的命运，表妹也因厌倦男爵而另寻新欢。面对他的是同样的命运逐渐降临他的头上。在意大利国境内，由于宗教的戒律，而有离婚禁止法，由于此法的存在，使得貌合神离的夫妻十分痛苦。本片正是针对此种不合情理的法律条文，以喜剧的形式给予讽刺，实为一杰作。导演的手法更是绝妙异常，将西西里地方的风俗巧妙的描述出来，同时当代喜剧圣手马塞罗．马斯特罗阿尼演起来驾轻就熟，也大大地发挥了他的才华和演技。
这部半记录片描写一个传奇式的西西里黑帮首领的生平，从他1950年全身中弹闪回到之前的各个生涯片段。影片记录了1945年到1951年间Salvatore Giuliano的匪徒反对官方警察的战争，也记录了他反对左派，工会和共产主义人民党的活动。人民党1947年“五一”大会就被Giuliano手下的人破坏的。
