Overview
Street Kings is a 2008 action-crime film directed by David Ayer, starring Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Common and The Game. Street Kings: Motor City is a 2011 direct-to-DVD action-crime film directed by Chris Fisher and starring Ray Liotta. It is a sequel to the 2008 film Street Kings. The film is a sequel in name only, as it takes place in Detroit rather than Los Angeles and only Clifton Powell returns from the first film's cast, albeit this time as Tyrone Fowler instead of Sergeant Green. However, it deals with similar themes of police corruption and internal affairs investigations that were seen in the first film.

디트로이트 경찰국 마약반 소속의 퀸타나가 살해당하자 댄 설리반(숀 하토시) 형사는 퀸타나의 파트너였던 마티 킹스턴(레이 리오타)과 함께 수사를 진행한다. 수사 과정에서 두 사람은 직업상의 관계를 넘어서 인간적인 유대감을 쌓아간다. 그러던 중 퀸타나와 함께 내사과의 조사 대상에 오른 베테랑 경찰 파울러와 로건이 연달아 살해된다. 댄은 유력한 용의자로 체포된 본스의 진술을 통해 마티가 관련됐음을 포착하고는 수사를 펼친 끝에 사건의 전말을 파헤친다. 3년 전, 동료들과 공모하여 마약조직의 돈을 빼돌렸던 마티는 자신의 비리가 밝혀질까 두려워서 살인을 저지르게 된 것. 댄은 마티에게 자수를 권유하지만, 마티는 새로운 음모를 꾸미는데...
