Discuss Legion

I really love(d) this show. Season 1 was great. Season 2 got way more bizarre and was unfocused and you couldn't quite tell what was really going on half the time, but I trusted Noah Hawley and believed he knew what he was doing. Now I feel duped.

I'm not against them turning David into a villain because it's obvious that's what the season was about, it's HOW they did it, and specifically what they did with Syd. I do not like her anymore. They dedicated an entire episode of her showing David how screwed up of a person she was and how she makes him suffer through her BS and yet he still cares about her.

Buuuut when Melanie (while being possessed by Shadow King) tells her David is evil Syd is soooo quick to believe it, to the point where she tries to kill David. Like, without even discussing it with him. Just jumps straight to murder. Because that's how you treat someone you claim to love, someone who you waited a year for. Yeah. Makes total sense.

Buuuut the show really really wants so much for us to be against David so he mind wipes Syd and has mind sex with her which basically reads as a date rape. Now I don't like EITHER of them. And everyone just forgives Shadow King for all the terrible things he's done. I mean OF COURSE you trust the villain you've been hunting all season over the guy who's been helping you all this time. Yeah. Makes total sense.

I was so worried Legion was going to get cancelled because of its low ratings at the beginning of the season. Now I kinda don't care anymore. What a difference two episodes make.

After some time I've kind of softened on it and I'm going to give the 3rd season a try, but man do I hate Syd now. I wonder if the show meant to make her come off so unlikeable. I mean they must have. She's a bigger villain than Shadow King if you ask me.

I don't think anyone has forgiven Farouk. I think the mouse probably whispered in everyone's ear and he got into their minds that way.

I thought it was painful, but I loved it. dizzy_face

I decided to watch season 3 and I like it so far, but my God David is such an idiot. Or the show just willingly forgets how awful of a person Syd is and lets her dump all over David when he knows full well that she's a rapist and won't throw it in her face. Why he is so in love with her still I will never understand.

EDIT: Wow, in the latest episode they turn it around so that Syd got raped by her mom's boyfriend after she took her mom's form and then went into the shower with her mom's naked boyfriend. This has to be one of the most insulting developments I've seen in a TV show without walkers or dragons. I guess feminism was right, all men are just potential rapists in waiting. Remember that fellas, this is how the world currently sees us.

You must really love season 3 now that Dave has a harem of sex slaves.

Oh I hate it. Really loved Season 1, was ok with Season 2 until the finale, hate Season 3 despite loving the production design. I am getting really tired of movies and shows character assassinating male characters in order to prop up (almost always less interesting) female characters.

I get it Hollywood, you hate men, men that would otherwise spend thousands of dollars on your product if you didn't constantly poop on them. I'm done with this series. I should have stuck with my post-Season 2 finale instincts.

Just finished season 3, and I'm glad I found this thread.

Exactly, what a horrible person Syd became! Before she was bland-but-cute, now she finally found a personality and guess what? It turns out to be condescending and hypocritical.

For a while I thought it was supposed that Farouk brainwashed them all, but that never pans out. Apparently they all decided that "drugging" Syd was so unforgivable, they just had to team up with the previous enemy number one. Never mind that he's the one who drove David insane. Never mind either that Syd betrayed and tried to kill David just before. Or that she herself sent an innocent man to jail as a teenager by "drugging" him.

I don't mind the villain arc for David per se, I was fascinated when Willow went down that path on Buffy. Lucky for her that she had actual friends.
