After Murray takes Erica's car privileges away, she and Barry retaliate by purchasing a used van; Adam is disappointed when he is voted "nicest guy" in the yearbook.

Adam's birthday sleepover goes awry while Barry and Erica compose a song to get Murray to appreciate music.

Beverly has a plan to help Adam succeed in Spanish class, while Barry tries to impress Murray with a job.

Murray is happy to hear that Adam wants to participate in a school sport -- until he finds out it's fencing; Beverly tries to play matchmaker for Barry's wrestling coach and Erica's voice teacher.

Beverly asks Miss Cinoman to let Adam -- who is going through puberty -- lip sync in the school musical. Murray inspires Erica to go to the homecoming dance with Geoff Schwartz.

Adam, who's embarrassed by his changing body, is desperate to get out of swimming in gym class; and Erica tries to create her identity at school by starting a club that, to her dismay, Barry joins.

Barry's dream of having a dog comes true, but he's disappointed when the pup takes an immediate liking to Murray. Beverly is upset not to be included when Erica and Lainey plan a girls-only sleepover.

Beverly insists the entire family gather for the holiday, but tension builds when brother-in-law Marvin tricks Pop-Pop into thinking Thanksgiving was at his house.Meanwhile, Pops passes the torch to Barry and Erica to give the holiday toast, resulting in them trying to one-up each other.

When Adam attends a Globetrotters game, he falls in love with the “theatrics” of the team and tries doing his own tricks on the court. But when he cuts together a video that makes Barry look like he lost a game to Adam and his friends, Barry demands a rematch, culminating in an epic battle at the school gym. Meanwhile, it’s Murray’s 50th birthday, and, despite his protests, Beverly throws yet another surprise party for him but gets more than she bargained for.

Adam tries to start a Mel Brooks club after he sees the movie "Spaceballs," and Jackie mistakes his club advertisement for political satire and puts it in the school paper. Meanwhile, when Beverly and Pops come up for parents weekend at school, Erica plans on telling them an important decision she has made, but Murray surprises them and tags along.

Adam is initially terrified when he and his friends are recruited to the William Penn Academy baseball team, but he quickly catches on to Principal Ball's master plan. A short-sighted Barry is in denial about his pitching skills. Meanwhile, Geoff's dad interferes in his relationship with Erica.

Despite Beverly wanting the two boys to bond, Adam and Johnny Atkins compete for the head of the Highlander Club at school. Meanwhile, Barry tries to keep him and JTP from the same fate of Murray falling out of touch with his high school friends.
