In a small Portuguese village in the late 60's, a young priest takes the people's side for fighting for better living and working conditions. Following complaints from the industrialist who employs most of the village, the bishop decides to move the priest to another parish. When the people learn of his forced departure, they rebel and unite to prevent the priest from leaving the village.

On the day Portugal and Angola face each other in the 2006 World Cup, Mozambicans, Angolans, Guineans, São Tomense, Cape Verdeans and Portuguese get together in a feast of beer, fried fish and expectations. The ones who are the most nervous are JJ and Mina, who take advantage of the game to announce to her family that, although they are not even engaged, they are going to be parents. Everything can go wrong, so JJ takes along a sponsor with a belly full of diamonds.
