last season the dad left .did he return home?

In the first episode of season three "Aftershock", Will and Holly are sitting outside the tent. There's an earthquake and they run inside, where they see Rick fall through the doorway. They only see his back as the actor himself had already left the show at the end of season two.
Rick probably returned home.
