Major Content Issues

My favorite video file metadata tagging application (iFlicks) recently switched to using TMDB for its TV series data instead of TVDB and it’s caused me quite the headaches with this show. To be more specific, I was trying to tag an episode from Season 19 and it just would not tag. Looking at the season information I noticed two things: 1) the episode segments parts are combined into single episodes which is entirely different than how Season 1 is tagged. but more importantly 2) the episodes are completely out of order and don’t match any of the other sources that I’ve found. Episodes with earlier air dates are marked as later episode numbers.
Contrary to how that first paragraph reads, I didn’t come here just to complain. I have a few points for discussion.
- I’m certainly willing to put in the time and effort to cleaning up the entire Arthur TV series but I wasn’t sure if my account needed some minimum amount of activity/karma to be able to edit. I know that I can edit, I just don’t want all my edits to be viewed as spam and reverted since my account is so new.
- Are there any objections to actually breaking the “Segments”[1] rule from the Contribution Bible? My reasoning is this: the justification in the text below for treating segments as episodes is because the segments are “often released individually” or swapped and paired with a different segment. I’ve been watching Arthur for nearly its entire run and I’ve never known this to be the case. Especially since there is the “A Word From Us Kids” segment in between the episodes and that segment is always related to the two Arthur episodes being shown. So I don’t believe they’d ever be able to mix and match the episode segments. Secondly, there are a number of two-parter episodes (segment 1 is part 1, segment 2 is part 2) that, again, would never be split and or reordered when re-broadcast. Thirdly, these episodes listed for purchase on various online platforms (Amazon, Google, iTunes) are all listed as combined and not separated by segments. As a result, my preference is to bend the “Segments” rule for this TV show. If anyone disagrees or feels that no exceptions to the rule should ever be made, I can completely respect that. I just wanted to bring it up for discussion.
I’m new here so I’m not sure how active this forum is (and I tend to write imposing walls of text) but if you read this and have any opinions, please discuss. Thank you!
[1]: Segments For kids cartoon with two or three distinct stories (segments) per half-hour, each episode should be split so that each segment is an episode. For example, "Going the Extra Milo / Sunny Side Up" should be two episodes. The main reason for splitting the segments is that segments are often released individually and/or paired with a different segment in subsequent releases.

Are the air dates still incorrect?

I kind of forgot that I wrote this a few months ago but I’ve moved on to tagging all of my episodes by hand instead of relying on this or any other database for Arthur. I completely respect why databases like this decide to split show segments into multiple episodes but I don’t agree with it (for the reasons I explained in my original post) and I’d rather have my episodes tagged the way I want them even if it’s a little more effort.
Not sure if there’s a way to close a discussion from further comments but feel free to do so with this one. I don’t plan on spending the time to overhaul the episodes to a format that I won’t be using anyway.
