MAY and TING are two active girls at school. They have

talents in performance, so they are chosen to perform a

play in their school's fifty anniversary celebration and

are highly acclaimed.

SIN's mother is one of the maids of MAY's family. Since

SIU and MAY are similar at age, they are very good friends

indeed. In order to financially support her family and

her gambler father, poor SIU starts her singing business

at a very young age.

During MAY's engagement party, her father Mr. FONG, is

stunned to learn the bad news of his bankruptcy. He

cannot bear the sudden shock and fans away.

After the sudden shock, old Mr. FONG suffers from a

stroke. MAY's family is now penniless. Their poverty

makes them loss all their wealthy friends and relatives,

and also their big luxurious house. Since they are heavily

in debt, MAY has to work as a maid to ease the financial

problem of her family. Being bullied by the chauffeur

one day, MAY angrily quit her job.

MAY meets her brother CHUNG again. CHUNG tells her their he cannot live

with his godfather and mother and he thinks that he has been neglected by

his parents. MAY tries to counsel him.

Being introduced by SIU, MAY finds a job to look after the washroom of a

nightclub. MAY's mother feels guilty but MAY does not mind. One night,

TING's mother sees MAY in her working place. She is shocked and tells TING.

TING is surprised on hearing the news.

CHAU lusts after MAY. To win over her heart, he promises to make her a

famous singer and improve her living condition. MAY is excited as she knows

nothing about LUK's intension. CHEUNG and her mother are happy. SIU feels

depressed as she is not so lucky.

As it is MAY's first show on stage, CHAU spends much for advertisement and

this brings the house down. YU SHUM and KAI IP also go to spend a night

there and they find MAY looking familiar……

After punishing MAY, CHAU wants to rape her but she strikes against him and

his attempt is in vain. At last MAY is released.

TING has no interest in going to school. She begs MAY to bring her to show

business, hoping to marry a rich man. To TING's sake, MAY refuses and TING

is discontented.

YU SHUM is unhappy with MAY's attitude so he and KAI IP book the nightclub

and insult MAY. MAY sings with a great grief and they feel guilty. They

want to say sorry but MAY turns away. As MAY runs away in rain, she is sick.

TING takes MAY's place when she is ill and her performance is rather

successful. She admires KAI IP and tries to flatter him.

SIU's father is in a big debt. In order to pay it, he arranges SIU to

accompany YUK LUN in Macau for seven days. SIU is taken in, thinking that

she is going to marry LUNG. She is shocked when she knows the truth.

LUN has pity on SIU and treats her good. SIU is touched and love brings

them together.

KA CHUNG is going to leave Hong Kong with his godfather and mother. MAY

knows that he does not want to leave and argues with them. His godmother

scolds CHEUNG eating his words. At last KA CHUNG has to leave reluctantly.

TIN tries to attract KAI IP and with every means to flatter him but he is

not impressed. She feels disappointed.

YU SHUM meets MAY again and he makes use of the chance to express his frank

apology and MAY is impressed and accepts him. However she cannot tell him

her feeling.

LUNG has to return to the USA to continue his studies. He gives SIU a ring

as a gift and SIU is sad.

MAY's mother is so careless that CHEUNG stumbles over. He is sent to

hospital but it is too late. He dies. MAY is sad.

In CHEUNG's funeral, YU SHUM calms MAY DOWN and CHAU is jealous.

SIU wants MAY to help her become a singer again. She also reminds MAY to

grasp the chance as YU SHUM can be her good husband. MAY is convinced and

meets YU SHUM. However it is witnessed by a reporter and this meeting

becomes a headline in the newspaper.

KAI FONG is going to marry YU SHUM and she is angry when she reads the

news. Thus she holds a ball and MAY is employed to sing in it. MAY thinks

that it is YU SHUM's idea and is depressed. Although KAI IP wants to

explain, she runs away.

With the help of her mother, TING finally manages to seduce KAI IP.

CHAU promises to employ SIU again but her salary will be cut. MAY thinks

that it is not fair and argues with him but SIU takes the terms as she is

coward. SIU is aware that YU SHUM does love MAY and she tells MAY. MAY meets YU

SHUM, suggesting that they should have no more meeting. YU SHUM objects and

his attitude touches her heart. As they date, MAY is late for her show and

CHAU scolds her.

A company has the idea the make recording tapes for MAY. To make the tape

the best, MAY has little chance to see YU SHUM. YU SHUM feels lonely. TING finally wins over KAI IP's love and she is brought to meet his family.

His mother has a good impression of her but her idea changes after she

knows TING's family.

MAY is confused as CHAU asks her to have show in Southeast Asia for three

months. In fact he wants to break up the love of MAY and YU SHUM.

YU SHUM objects MAY to go elsewhere for her business. He begs her to marry

him. MAY asks him to have careful consideration first. They have an

argument over this matter.MAY blames her mother who has not taken good care of CHEUNG. However she forgives her at last as MAY knows that she cares about her.

KAI IP's mother wants TING to leave KAI IP but TING does not give up. She

cries in front of him and he is conquered. She even teaches him to take

poisonous medicine to threaten his family. At last YIU CHEUNG promises for

the fame of the family. KAI CHUNG and KAI CHO discusses with TING's mother about the marriage and they insult her. She is embarrassed.

On the day of the marriage, MAY sends a flower basket. YU SHUM misses her.

The Chaus do not welcome the marriage of KAI IP and TING. TING feels ill-

treated. Moreover no one respects her in the house. TING is not shocked and

she works hard to get the role.

YU SHUM is angry as he reads from the newspaper that MAY is being chased by a rich man in Southeast Asia. He is bored and invites KAI FONG to play tennis with him. This is seen by a reporter and in order to solve the embarrassing situation, FONG claims that they will get married soon. As this hurts F's fame, YU SHUM suggests to have an engagement with her. After their honeymoon, TING returns and sees that her mother is lonely,

they are frustrated and cry together.

MAY returns to Hong Kong and knows that YU SHUM has changed. She is disappointed but meanwhile YU SHUM in a dilemma.

MAY is depressed after hearing the news of the engagement of YU SHUM and

FONG. She gives herself up and YU SHUM is sad to see this. He wants to take

her away but is treated cool by her.

One day YU SHUM and FONG meet MAY in the street. FONG is angry and quarrel

with YU . YU SHLM cannot tolerate and cancels the engagement.

KAI IP goes to persuade YU SHUM to withdraw his words but he refuses. The

two families become enemies.

TING finds herself pregnant. The step-mother changes her attitude and

takes good care of her but the older one is jealous.

SIU faints on the stage and is afraid that she bears a baby. She is confused. Meanwhile her father takes YI MUI away to take refuge as he owes

the others too much.

The debtors catch MUI and force SIU to pay the debt in ten days. MAY seeks

help from CHAU but is ignored.

TING feels pride as her status quo is uplifted. As she knows SIU's problem,

she asks KAI IP to help but he has no money.

SIU faints again and CHAU sends her home. On the way they meet SIU's father

and CHAU scolds him strictly. This changes MAY's idea of tell.

MUI escapes and lives in MAY's house. Her father is beaten up. SING takes

good care of her as she is so poor.

The debtors lusts after SIU as her father cannot pay the debt. She feels

helpless.

MUI wants to go home and is stopped by MAY. In the entanglement, YU SHUM

arrives. His car nearly knocks her down. To avoid it, his cart turns over.

MAY feels guilty as YU SHUM is hurt. Love blossoms again but his mother is

discontented.

MUI finds that her father is hopeless and determines to leave. SIU does rot

leaver as she thinks that she is responsible for the family.

TING is bored as her activities are confined. She quarrels with KAI IP

frequently. Finally she gives birth to a girl and everyone is disappointed.

TING is not allowed to go home as she visits MAY. SIU wants to call KAI IP

for her and she meets LUNG again.

LUNG is drunken and thus he cannot recognize SIU. SIU is disappointed. As

all LUNG's friends have left, SIU sends LUNG to the hotel. Then she

discovers that LUNG has got married and his family is in the USA. Her heart

breaks up into pieces. Later LUNG wakes up.

TIN goes into the house through the backdoor. She is discovered and is

scolded. She is made angry and strikes back.

LUNG visits SIU to thank her taking care of him. SIU is brought to his

house. As he lives alone, SIU always goes to do housework for him. He

thanks her much.

CHAU arranges MAY to sing a song for a movie. MAY does not turn up and she

goes to meet YU SHUM. CHAU is angry and rushes to her house, disclosing his

love of her. YU SHUM knows that CHAU has threatened MAY, he goes to

question him.

YU SHUM goes to question CHAU but is beaten up. MAY arrives and claims that

she will marry YU SHUM. CHAU wants to stop but in vain. He requests her to

continue her show until she gets married and MAY promises him.

YU SHUM tells his family about his marriage and only YU TING supports him.

TING feels bored with the CHAU's and MAY invites her to sing in a

charitable show and she promises.

YU 's mother and his family feel relieves as they meet MAY and her

mother, seeing that they have good character.

YIU CHEUNG orders TING to quit singing in the charitable show but she

refuses. In the quarrel she faints. It is found that she has blood cancer.

As YIU CHEUNG's birthday is approaching, the CHAU's refuse TING to return.

At last they have a compromise to have her in a small house in the

backyard. TING is sad.

TING's mother goes to question the CHAU's as her daughter is tortured. At

last she determines to bring her home. In order to send TING abroad for

treatment, KAI IP requests YU SHUM to help him. YU SHUM agrees.

MAY's mother is excited and sad as MAY will leave her soon.

MAY's last show is so successful and CHAU does not want to let her go. He

poisons her and sends her to his bungalow. YU SHLM is informed and he is

deceived, thinking that there is a filthy relationship between CHAU and

MAY.

YU SHUM is tricked and goes away. After she has woken up, she scolds CHAU

for his dirty trick. She wants to make explanation but YU SHJM refuses to

listen to her. YU SHUM is depressed and takes vacation overseas. MAY tells

SIU everything and SIU has pity on her. At last MAY determines to continue

her singing career and ignores CHAU.

TING's health worsens. YIU CHEUNG knows it and is willing to give her

financial support. KAI IP is frustrated when he recalls his former happy

living.

TING meets another patient. They become good friends as they can share

their feelings.

LUNG's wife and son arrives in Hong Kong. SIU is afraid that she will know

their relationship. At last LUNG's wife discovers it and is very sad. SIU

decides to retreat as she does not want to spoil their family. LUNG can do

nothing and before he leaves he gives SIU a sum of money. SIU's heart is

broken.

CHUI HAY talks with TING, convincing her to live happily for the rest of

her life. Meanwhile KAI IP also changes his character and determines to

start his own business and takes care of their daughter. TING feels

relieved.

MAY finds that she has a baby for YU SHUM. Her mother suggests her to tell

him but she refuses. She goes to have abortion and CHAU stops her.

CHAU convinces MAY to change her mind and MAY's mother takes care of her.

SIU is shocked as her father dies. TING visits her and they cry. SING calms

SIU down and MAY reminds SING to take good care of her.

TING suggests to leave KAI IP as she does not want to be his burden.

Moreover she wants to leave in her own way for her limited life. At last he

agrees though his family oppose.

CHAU takes good care of MAY and she is impressed. At last she promises to

marry him. YU SHUM returns and SIU tells him the truth. He regrets and goes

to beg MAY to forgive him. However MAY has decided to marry CHAD. On the

day of marriage, YU SHUM kills CHAU and takes MAY away.

MAY asks YU SHUM to escape and at last CHAU passes away peacefully. In CHAU's funeral, YU SHUM meets MAY in the graveyard. MAY persuades him to

surrender but he wants to have a happy day with her alone before he reports

to the police. Meanwhile the police arrive and he runs away.

YU SHUM's mother asks MAY where he is. She keeps her lips tight and they

leave. However her mother realizes that they have met and she reminds her

to be careful.

KA CHUNG returns and is a police inspector. He is instructed to be in

charge of the case. He is in a dilemma as his sister is involved in the

case.

TING and CHUI HAY decide to rent a house and live together. MAY meets YU

SHUM there and KA CHUNG follows her.

YU SHUM and MAY runaway. KA CHUNG dares not to shoot as he may hurt MAY. Suddenly MAY feels sick and YU SHUM sends her to hospital. He then knows

that she has his baby. He makes up his mind and goes home. He asks his

mother to take care of MAY and then he is caught.

TING and CHUI HAY leave happily and they even compose a song. KAI IP visits

them and is impressed by their happy living.

SIU decides to marry SING. In the banquet TING sings the new song and

before finishing it, she passes away.

MAY gives birth to a boy and he is called BU YU so as to show her love of

YU SHUM . She continues her singing career and sings TIIG's song. Everyone

is touched and impressed.
