The only son of wealthy widow Violet Venable dies while on vacation with his cousin Catherine. What the girl saw was so horrible that she went insane; now Mrs. Venable wants Catherine lobotomized to cover up the truth.

Catharine Holly, a poor relation of a prominent New Orleans family, seems to be insane after her cousin Sebastian dies under mysterious circumstances on a trip to Europe. Sebastian's mother, Violet Venable, trying to cloud the truth about her son's homosexuality and death, threatens to lobotomize Catharine for her incoherent utterances relating to Sebastian's demise. Under the influence of a truth serum, Catharine tells the gruesome story of Sebastian's death by cannibalism at the hands of locals whose sexual favors he sought, using Catharine as a device to attract the young men (as he had earlier used his mother).

Sang-woo knows his teacher's secret: a visit to a gay bar. Kyeong-hoon and Sang-woo embark on a journey about their sexuality and their relationship and their place in society.

Based freely on the play of the same title by Tennesee Willams. Some fragments of the original play are restaged frame by frame by new botanical performers.

Dr. Vaginal Davis gives what John Water's describes as "phenomenal" and what George Kuchar calls "a riveting" performance as Mrs. Venable, the obsessed, upset mother of the dead sea poet Sebastian. Beset with an en masse visit from her late husband's relatives, which include Mrs. Holly, George Holly as the mercenary son, Katherine Holly as Sebastian's set upon companion, Sister Felicity, the Nurse/Nun of who's performance Ronald Tavel states "another scene stealer using understatement" and Dr. Sugar brought in to "cut that HIDEOUS STORY out of her head" by Mrs. Venable. A psycho-sexual catharsis ensues when Katherine is given sodium pentothal and reveals what really happened SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER!
