Billy Hayes is caught attempting to smuggle drugs out of Turkey. The Turkish courts decide to make an example of him, sentencing him to more than 30 years in prison. Hayes has two opportunities for release: the appeals made by his lawyer, his family, and the American government, or the "Midnight Express".

Tony Leung Chiu Wai heads to prison in Chinese Midnight Express, a harrowing prison drama from director Billy Tang. The setting is 1960s Hong Kong, and righteous reporter On (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) publishes an article exposing corruption in the police force. Unfortunately, he's framed for drug distribution and confesses to the charges when the corrupt cops (led by Ben Ng) threaten his family. Forced to undergo the rigorous hazing rites of all new inmates, On struggles to regain hope and rise above his situation. Meanwhile, On's loyal girlfriend (Pinky Cheung) is terrorized by the cops who put him away, and On faces new challenges, and even finds new allies, while stuck in prison.

Jin-soo is a lonely father who has sent his wife and daughter abroad to study. One night, he hears about how a young man living next door broke up with his girlfriend. Jin-soo suggests his neighbor go to his girlfriend´s place to confess his love.

Married man David and good friend Ho take a vacation together in Shenzhen, David meets a young lady at a night club, whose partner robbed him, Ho in order to save David accidentally killed the girl and her partner, the two decided to run. They took a ride with a truck, hoping to escape to Vietam. Ho asked his Hong Kong girlfriend Joan to help, Joan meets with Ho in China with money, not expecting David's new girlfriend Miu Ying to steal it.

Chan Siu Hong is a lawyer who goes into jail after hitting a vicious policeman. He's welcomed by the inmates because he convinces fellow inmates not to use violence to settle every dispute.

Few things bring that much happiness as an empty compartment on an night train. That feeling of being all alone with you thoughts, soaked in the transient neon lights slicing up the darkness. A rhythmic clatter of the train helps you to enter that special kind of trance. Time melts away. The darkness is devouring the compartment. Let's hope noone will join you.

Wastrel son of a railroad magnate, Jack's father becomes frustrated with his son's wild ways. To prove himself, Jack goes to work in the railroad yard as a laborer. An escaped convict, Silent Bill Brachley, steals Jack's car, and the chase leads to a meeting between Jack, the engineer of the Midnight Express, and the engineer's pretty daughter, Mary. As he is led back to jail, Brachley swears revenge.

Midnight Express Reunion was a wrestling show held by Ring of Honor. It took place on October 2, 2004 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show featured the reunion of the 80's tag team The Midnight Express: Dennis Condrey, Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane and Jim Cornette.
