Scripting the landscape and exploring the residue of a cinematic history, The Broken Altar forms a sculptural treatment of the architectural artifacts of these abandoned and barren spaces: speaker boxes rise from tall grass like grave markers and the screens themselves are monumental, sepulchral in their peeling whiteness.

George Peabody is a young man who has been giving free rein to his inclinations, the principal one being drink. One might have concluded he was lost, but there was the chance which the hand of Providence always bestows in the person of pretty little Ruth King, who had secretly loved George since their childhood days. She succeeds in persuading him from his reckless life, and he determines to cut off from his old loose companions by going out West and making a man of himself. They plight their troth with their first kiss and a heart shaped locket, which Ruth wears, she breaking it in two, giving George one side while she retains the other, which symbolized the reunion of their hearts with his return.

In this 1932 short film produced by the Bournemouth Cine Society, a gallant lover rescues his girl from gypsy kidnappers; the bizarre plot device of a swastika pendant offering a chilling reminder of the symbol's pre-war acceptance. This film opens when Ann’s swastika necklace arrives back from the jewelers. Next we see Jim and Ann spoon at a beach party, until a jealous tiff causes her to walk off into the arms of a car-owning Lothario. On a nearby heath, Ann escapes from her randy driver and walks off alone. Next day, Jim, learning that Ann is missing, grabs his pistol. On the heath, he finds Ann's swastika on the ground and sees her bound and gagged by gypsies. They get their comeuppance and Jim gets his Ann. Robert G Torrens, the producer, makes a cameo appearance as a gypsy kidnapper in the latter part of this film.

Based on the book by Ned MacDonald comes this engaging feature documentary that explores the history of the Inverness Coal Mines. After an abundance of quality coal is discovered in a remote settlement on Cape Breton Island, wealthy foreign developers and miners arrive from across the world to extract the black gold from the depths. As the years continue, exploitation of the land and workers challenges the survival of Inverness Town and its people.

In the small farming community of Spring Valley, young Aurora Lane has caused a scandal by bearing a son by townsman Lucius Henderson, who refuses to marry her or even admit that he's the father. Shunned as a "sinful" woman by most of the town, she turns over her son, Don, to be raised by Miss Julia, the town librarian, who tells the boy that she's his "aunt". Don grows up and goes to college, and when he comes back home the town gossips begin a rumor-mongering campaign. When the town policeman tries to drive Aurora out of town he is found murdered, and Don is arrested for the crime.

The 24-minute film juxtaposes a day in the lives of Giridhar or Giri, a 60-something Alzheimer’s patient (played by Shah), and Deepti, an aspiring psychologist (played by Dugal). During the course of the film, Deepti, who’s charged with looking after Giri for a day, as his family is away for a wedding, ends up remembering a thing or two about herself.
