Discuss Harvey Weinstein

So finally this piece of s*** gets what's coming to him - I'm sure there's dozens of actresses out there, that has been sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein through the decades, and a lot of them has without a doubt given in to his perversions, to start or even save their career -- can't stop wondering if Jennifer Lawrence is one of them? After all, she raised to stardom in a blink of an eye so to speak.

Good job he is a multi millionaire as allegedly he will be writing cheques left right and centre to pay his victims off.

I especially love one of his quotes on his IMDB bio page, that says his wife is 100% behind him (who has since filed for divorce, get as much of his cash before all his alleged victims have a chance), and his lawyer who quit within a day of his quote.

"[on his wife Georgina Chapman after the scandal broke] She stands 100 percent behind me. Georgina and I have talked about this at length. We went out with [lawyer] Lisa Bloom last night when we knew the article was coming out. Georgina will be with Lisa and others kicking my ass to be a better human being and to apologize to people for my bad behavior, to say I'm sorry, and to absolutely mean it. [comment: Lawyer Lisa Bloom resigned one day later] [Oct. 2017]"

And yet other proven sex criminals, and nut jobs, who are still making money for Hollywood continue to have work.

Will Hollywood ever change? Or continue as it has been from the beginning, cover up while they are making money, build them up, (make a $hit load of ca$h) knock them of the pedestal and begin all over again.

It's my belief that Hollywood will never change. It's an empire. Weinstein was just a fish, - granted, a very big fish - in a very big pond. It's a good ol' boys club and crap like this have been going on for years, but Weinstein's just the tip of the iceberg. As long as there are people who dream of becoming a movie star, and people who have the power to make those dreams a reality, there will be people like Weinstein who will continue to prey on these dreamers.

I don't think he'll get out of this one - there's too much dirt and too many that comes forward now and tells about his harassments - and now rape too!?

I think it will change, but it'll take time - it's not done over night - but there's more and more focus on this problem nowadays, and if the stars refuse to work with a shitbag, the studios will fire those shitbags - just like they just did with Harvey Weinstein. I think the sweet days for sex-predators in HW are over.

I'm not so confident. Just as there will always be people wanting to take advantage of others by offering to "help their careers", there will be those who will (at least initially) be happy to use their sexual favours to buy that help. I know a very attractive young lady whose chosen "career" was to bag a footballer for a husband. (She didn't manage that but is probably better off financially with her millionaire husband who, as Mme LeMarchand points out, isn't even the young ugly one in the firm but the old ugly father).

I suspect that a lot of "shocked and appalled" celebrities have known this was going on for decades but are only now speaking out, which seems a little hypocritical. I can think of at least one older director in the business who I can't imagine doesn't like to "enjoy" the beautiful younger women he casts in his films but who currently seems untouchable. (Don't know why, it's not as if his films make loads of money).

Is it any wonder that men like him think their behaviour is acceptable when a film about a millionaire who enters what most would consider a domineering relationship with a woman was hugely popular with women and is apparently a "beautiful love story"?

I think it is the nature of the industry. There are 100000 actresses wanting to make it, there are 10 roles available, nepotism and sexual favors are the only real ways to get ahead. But they need better laws too.

Very true. I find this whole case very odd - why's this happening right now? Did he piss the wrong person off and this is his payback?

I ask that because I've read about this guy & " Harvey's women", e.g. Paltrow, Lawrence, on plenty of sites for literally years now. So why is this "breaking" with various celebrities claiming to be "shocked" and "disgusted" by it now?

And are the likes of Jolie / Paltrow "heroes" by coming out with their tales now? Ten / fifteen years ago maybe would have been helpful...

I think people knew he was an asshole, they put up with it when his movies made a lot of money. Now he has had a series of flops the hyenas started to circle around him. There is a limit of bs anyone can take.

who reported it first? also wondering why the sudden blowup and what is up with Rose McGowan - all her pictures look different lol

sure a Hollywoo scandal but yeah it has been known that these things do happen, for sure he's not the only one. I remember reading something similar years ago about Kpop industry which was more sad as most women killed themselves.

His brother allegedly. People are social animals they like to jump on the bandwagon. I think money is the root of everything. Rose mcgowan was an up and coming actress in the 90s, she got into an accident. She has always been vocal about stuff.

Don't be so sure. We are not all equal under the justice system. Perfect example O.J. Simpson. At the time I remember reporters saying they had covered trials that had nowhere the evidence they had against O.J. but they still got convicted. O.J. was well known and had money. Weinstein well known and has a ton of money.

Oj was an athlete with money, Weinstein is a film company very sensitive to public opinion and female rights. There will be women boycotting his company, his wifes company doesn't want anything to do with him.

Oj simpsons case had racial profiling, jury tampering involved, and it happened after a massive race riot. Oj got off because african americans wanted to rebel against the unjust system.

I hate to say it, but I imagine in five years time he'll probably have a redemption of some sorts and probably end up back on the radar, probably with some kind of Oscar nomination behind him. People forget and are willing to forgive if they get their entertainment. The latest example I can think of is Mel Gibson...his audio tapes are on youtube so...yeah. People forget. I haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge as yet and probably won't...but it still did well at the B.O. and got awards. People will still honor Polanski and Allen FFS, so yeah.

Hollywood loves itself a redemption story.
