Frank Tarloff (February 4, 1916 - June 25, 1999) wrote nine episodes of The Andy Griffith Show under the pseudonym of David Adler. He worked under a false name as a result of being blacklisted after his testimony for the House Un-American Activities Committee. He also wrote episodes of the TV series "I Married Joan", "The Real McCoys", "The Donna Reed Show", "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Jeffersons". His film screenplays include Father Goose (for which he won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay) and A Guide for the Married Man.
