We have plans like Neuralink and other research into brain implants. Plus we have remote controlled military drones and the beginnings of self driving vehicles. But none of this will be in 7 years, maybe in 70.

Really, if you write sci-fi you always overestimate the pace of the development of inventions. You should set it in space year 4055AD and predict the invention of a power cable that doesn't always tie itself in knots.

lmao or an iphone charger cable that lasts more than 1 year (the warranty period)

The other day a friend of mine pointed out the fact that Running Man was set in 2017, and aside from some really bad tv game shows none of it has come true.

The only scifi filmmaker I can think of who consistently hit the mark is Wim Wenders. He didn't get too ambitious with crazy fantasy predictions but limited the scifi element to just a few gadgets while society remains basically the same as always. In Until the End of the World (1991) he predicted dashboard GPS, ipads & skype almost to the year the stuff actually hit the consumer market. Not to mention the central plot device about a rogue Indian satellite that falls out of orbit and gets shot down by missiles (which literally happened in 2019 😮).
