If you're on your back arms raised defensively while the other guy punches away at will you lost. When you're helpless on your back tears squirting out of your eyes as you sob hysterically your face covered in blood and snot you got your ass beat.

It could be presumed he had the wind knocked out of him when Ralphie lunged at him... would explain how he could barely flail his arms.

I bet he did have the wind knock out of him and made him into a harder target. it would seem that Scut was all talk
