Oof, man. I've never really put that kind of thought into it.
Goldfinger
Goldeneye
Dr. No
You Only Live Twice
From Russia With Love
Live and Let Die
Moonraker
The Spy Who Loved Me
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Thunderball
The Man with the Golden Gun
Octopussy
A View To a Kill
Diamonds Are Forever
Tomorrow Never Dies
For Your Eyes Only
The Living Daylights
Die Another Day
Casino Royale
The World is Not Enough
Skyfall
Licence to Kill
Quantum of Solace
Spectre
I'm sorry, but I just don't enjoy Daniel Craig as Bond. I know they reinvigorated the franchise, but I don't like his cold, mean version of Bond. I need humor and a bit of whimsy (generally from Q-branch). I miss Desmond Llewellyn.
I didn't put Skyfall at 1...it is my number 2 tho. I'm sorry I really liked it. I'm not complaining about the people that have Moonraker 3rd and 7th. That's my least favorite Bond movie ever.

I meant to ask - how can you rate Moonraker as the worst Bond yet rank The Spy Who Loved Me so highly? To my mind they're practically twinned...
I get people preferring the less action packed, fun efforts but for me that'd be like seeing someone who liked the Craig efforts put Skyfall near the top yet have Casino Royale near the bottom.
The Spy Who Loved Me is handled with class and is widely considered Moore's best for reason. Moonraker is probably more definitive of what Roger Moore would be famous for...ridiculousness. It wasn't even supposed to be the next Bond movie after TSWLM...but because of Star Wars and the space craze they rushed it into fruition. They bring back Jaws but they totally ruin his mystique and of course kind of turn him into a good guy. Did you wanna see Oddjob come back as a good guy and fall in love? All Bond movies are cartoons...but Moonraker takes it waaaay too far. Just because they're 2 Bond movies with the same star that were released just two years apart, doesn't make them the same to me. I mean just look at You Only Live Twice/On Her Majesty's Secret Service vs. Diamonds Are Forever.

Well I'd certainly concur with that but I'd say the difference between TMWTGG and TSWLM (although actually 3 years) is a better example of consecutive Bonds, with the same actor, being markedly different.
I find LALD and TMWTGG quite similar - Sir Roger plays the role slightly straighter, it's when he hits TSWLM that he hits his comedy gold stride:-
The "I think you just delivered it" Receptionist's message
The nod at the winking saucy helicopter pilot disco scene
Dropping a fish out the window of his underwater car which he's just driven up the beach!
Getting Jaws to give a big smile so he can dangle him from a giant magnet!
"keeping the British end up, Sir"
Brilliant moments, all of them - and equally as home in TSWLM as they would have been in Moonraker I think. Not so much either side though - TMWTGG or FYEO.
I guess that explains my thoughts in saying I saw them as almost twinned efforts.
I appreciate now that you see that a bit differently though, so thanks for explaining your reasoning 👍
@The Midi-chlorian Count Thanks for supplying the two those two titles. Interesting enough, I loved Skyfall, Moonraker, not so much.
However, Moonraker did have some good things: Corrine Clery being chased by those two dogs in the forest (without sounding too morbid); the entrance pad that played the theme from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind; and last but not least: JAWS!!!
Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night------

even though Skyfall is kinda dour, it is shot very well and I think people fall into the movie and enjoy it that way...

Bumping this thread since Bond seems quite a popular topic on here at the moment.
Anyone else care to list their preferences?
