You are correct! The German data here on TMDB, that I added in December 2018, was for the release in Switzerland according to the official Swiss distributor here:

Back then, there was 1.) no theatrical release in Germany, yet - and 2.) no technical way here on TMDb to make separate pages for Germany/Switzerland. That's possible now, so I just made 2 different pages for those countries:

• for Germany (de-DE) with the correct title: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/446696-life-itself?language=de-DE
  
• for Switzerland (de-CH) with the correct title: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/446696-life-itself?language=de-CH
  

Note: There are still unsolved technical issues here on TMDb for this specific case. For example, I can't differentiate between the correct posters for Germany/Switzerland and I can't add the Swiss video trailer to the Swiss page.

And to point no. 1.) -> I can't find a theatrical release for this movie in Germany. I know that it was planned for April 25th, 2019 according to the information here:

But it seems that actually never happened! I can't find any proof that this movie was ever shown in German theatres. That could've been the case because of the bad reviews for this film; for example, there's a critic who was sceptical about a German release here:
