I recently purchased the vhs and it appears to be different as the f-ing Pie line is in it and you get a brief view of the leading guy's butt. It contains more gore and language, the hero naked from behind, and , yes, Mary Lou topless. Why was it edited for DVD?

Artisan released the TV EDIT in a double feature DVD in the U.S. And Artisan is now owned by Lionsgate. The release was probably attended to not by a movie nerd but by a money nerd who couldn't care less about using the best version of the film. That'd be my guess.
