I could not quite figure out the tone of this film. It tried to appear balanced, but obviously based on it's opening sequence and closing shots had a particular bias. That said, the film raises several items worthy of consideration. Namely, regulation vs. free market, immigration vs. illegal immigration, etc.

A couple of points I found particularly interesting was when the "Activist" said something like, "I could be wrong, but even if I am I'm still passionate and don't do it knowing I'm wrong." That kind of thinking is pretty dangerous. Also as a subject there were parts of her personal story that were obviously peeking through (and she said as much). That made her an interesting subject indeed.

As far as Herbalife, it gives me the creeps, but I've seen plenty of such "MLM" scams among my family and friends. That's kinda how you learn your lessons I suppose.

Lastly, rather than donating any profits the "short" generates to the non-defined "hispanic issues" why not just give it back to as many of the people as possible who were harmed by Herbalife? That assertion would be proven by the short coming through, and such a distribution of profits would seem like the closest thing to "justice" if there is any. Now, it might not be fair, but to that dude who lost $20k, it would be welcomed I'm sure.

It sounds interesting. I've always enjoyed watching a good documentary and have never trusted Herbalife.

Yes! The guy who was revealing things about Herbalife said he has morals and will give to charity etc, he really should help out those who lost money. Like the other said, 10 million is like dimes & nickels to them. Anything that needs to recruit I see pyramid scheme.

It really is like a cult lol like I have seen the fitness classes with overly happy people who chug the shakes. My colleague was a member and I went with her to the club cos she has a free shake coupon. It was in a 2nd floor shophouse like so true - no herbalife sign outside at all! I remember thinking why is this place so hidden but inside it was pretty but felt so sketchy.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen an 100% unbiased documentary. I watch a lot of documentaries, and I feel the majority of them have a point of view and are edited to support and sell that point of view. Even some of the very best documentaries I've seen were very clearly biased.

The closest thing I've seen to an unbiased documentary was perhaps The Red Pill. The filmmaker really made an effort to interview people from both sides (in this case, men's rights activists and feminists).

I also recently watched Going Clear, a doc about Scientology, and in the closing credits there is a statement that they tried to get interviews with some of Scientology's biggest supporters (Tom Cruise, John Travolta) and they refused to participate. So even when an effort is made to get both sides, it's not always successful.
