Discuss Skyfall

The opening action sequence was MUCH easier to follow... but, dayum, was M bloody annoying. "What's going on? Report!" "Kinda busy here, ma'am, trying not to fall off a moving train. Can I call you back, FFS?"

That said, I'd have prederred to see the standard Bond walk, turn and shoot at the fourth wall.

This reboot makes Bond more of a generic action espionage thing than the cues and beats we came to love over 60 years and five othrr actors.

We came to know Moneypenny as a competent secretary. Now she's a field agent? Is NOTHING sacred? Introduce a new agent, fine, but just give her a new name.

Naomi Harris bops along beside Bond at the new MI6 headquarters like a teenager, horrible directing. We're supposed to believe she's a field agent?

And Q? A millenial wetnap is now running the shop? I guess I'm old, but the world of high level espionage is not the place for someone who looks like he's got a homework to do before getting their paper route done.

He's introduced, offers — remember, this is Q now — a gun and a radio. Bond expresses his disdain, and the boy says "Were you expecting an exploding pen? We don't really go in for that anymore", which is more directed at the audience. W's shop was on the cutting edge of cloaked dagger, leading esge technology. What is the point of paying this kid to offer Bond as mich as he could have picked up in a pawn shop? It justvmakes no sense!

Then he finishes by saying, "And please return the equipment in one piece."

I've always hated that. They all know what Bond does for a living, they couldn't possibly have ever once actually expected him to return anything, he usually had to escape the escapade with his life, saved by USING the gadgets. If they want stuff returned, they should go work in a library or rental car lot.

And, of all the Bond cues and beats they left out of this reboot, THIS is the beat they retain?

That's some bullsh!t. It's almost like they are spitting in the face of all we camr to love about Bond. So, why even bother emeith the name? Call him Ethan Hunt Sr. or something.

NOPE, NOPE, & NOPE! Although you are entitled to 'your opinion', no matter HOW WRONG IT IS!

Skyfall was the last "Bond" film I watched for that very reason. I left the cinema resolved to never watch a Daniel Craig effort again.

At least James Bond still has his favourite drink and car. wink

I thought the film was OK, but it wasn't really "Bond". Though I found - wait for it - a quantum of amusement in the fact that Judy Dench/M was basically the "Bond Girl" of the film.
