I'm working my way through all the Best Picture nominees. This and last year's winners have me scratching my head...and not just the winners, either.

I gave up on trying to see all of the Academy's Best Picture nominees year for year a long, long time ago.

I don't get it either. Drama is an essential element of film. This film had none.

This kind of post is the reason IMDB forum was shut down.

It definitely wasn't the best picture. It wasn't as good as Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, or Nocturnal Animals(which I don't even think was nominated). It's kind of annoying when a film receives awards just for having homosexual characters. In 2009 Sean Penn didn't deserve best actor either. Also, the actor that won best supporting for moonlight was only in the film for about 20 minutes. Was his performance better than Jeff Bridges in Hell or High Water? This year the Oscars proved they're a complete joke.

Did they have any black ghetto or gay competition? Do you really think Moonlight deserved best picture? I haven't seen La La Land, but for sure Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival, Hell or High Water, Manchester by the Sea, and Nocturnal Animals were all better than Moonlight.

Timeliness and timing matters.

And spotlight was very political. Hollywood got a chance to "project" it's own child molestation onto the Catholic Church. If it was about the child molesters in Hollywood, it wouldn't have seen the light of day. Nope, Carey Haim's and hundreds if not thousands of others' stories will never get heard.

Birdman was "about the business", so they like that.

And spotlight and birdman also didn't have any black and gay competition those years. If they went up against moonlight, they certainly would've lost.

Er...yes, and do you remember what happend last year when blacks didn't win any Oscars? It's hard to believe that a nothing film like Moonlight winning the next year is a complete coincidence. I actually wondered if the fiasco at this years Oscars was actually sabotage by someone pissed off with the Oscars capitulating to the SJW agenda.

In my opinion many "weak" movies have won over the years.

I think the fact that one about a black gay guy won bothers a lot of people.

I'd have to say that his performance was better than Jeff Bridges in Hell or High Water. Jeff is practically an expert at acting while Mahershala Ali is not. So I expected more from Jeff. Just saying.
