Vol 1. flows like a charm, but in Vol 2. pacing issues are apparent, especially in the middle, where the script needs Peter to be having a great time on Ego's planet, chill and... nothing can disturb that except for some minor confrontations with Gamora. The scenes between Mantis and Drax are obvious padding, and the prison breakout sequence with Rocket, Yondu and Groot is just... not that great.
The beginning and the end are OK, but the middle of the movie is just dragging on and on and on... No meaningful character-interactions, just waiting for the next event - which is obvious anyways, that Ego is evil.
This hurt the movie the most for me.

I really enjoyed the prison breakout but I would have l like to have seen Yondu up close and personal for Taserface's demise.

But that is exactly what I said - the beginning is OK (the first 20 minutes - I agree). The alien blob invading the US was actually just thrown in there to artificially raise the stakes - it wasn't really needed IMO.

Yup, I nodded off during some sustained story non-progression and cookie cutter overblown CGI action sequences. I've now fallen asleep during two films in my life, this and Star Trek: Into Darkness. The plus side is of they start showing this sort of thing when I'm old and grey in a nursing home I won't need any sedatives!

Well I wrote up another one especially for you. Try to save reading it for when you take that red car through a mountain pass. :p
