Nice to see Ann Sheridan in an early role but boy is this a stinker. Barely any Alcatraz. It’s a story about a talky underworld guy Litel and his relationship with his teenaged daughter. A b movie in every way including inadvertent shadows on Sheridan’s face in two shots that should be a crime.

Not the same thing, but this reminds me that at some point I want to purchase the DVDs set of the run of MGM Crime Does Not Pay series shorts from the same era.

I kind of liked the Crime Does Not Pay series though. I think the one called Buried Loot with Robert Taylor was a cracker.
