Discuss The Day of the Triffids

I love the source material so gave this a look. It didn't quite sufficiently build the menace or remotely explain Keel's globetrotting but it worked really well splitting the narrative between two stories. Plus the use of dust, mist and gloom to mask the shortcomings on the monster production front was quite deft.

I've been meaning to see this one for decades. It's always looked a bit cheesy to me, like you describe it. Looking over the plot description on the film's page, I see that I was wrong about this, but for the longest I was intrigued by the threat of a bunch of giant plant-monsters called "TRIFFIDS."

I liked this film. The novel is pretty good, too. I was struck by the similarities with this and the opening for the 1st episode of The Walking Dead.
