Discuss Locke

As a Tom Hardy fan I had to watch it but critics overrated this film. It was monotonous, boring. I didn't even care much about Hardy's character

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!.............Whoa!

I enjoyed it thanks to Hardy, who manages to hold the attention throughout despite that unnecessary Welsh accent. Some of the dialogue was awfully clunky, particularly the moments where Locke talks to himself, but it was a solid enough little drama which didn't outstay its welcome.

Tom can mimic my silly accent any day :p

Oh, I love the Welsh accent, don't get me wrong! It's just that Tom Hardy sporting one for ninety minutes for no apparent reason (the script did not call for the character to be Welsh; his wife and sons had clear southern English accents) was rather distracting. He is such a magnetic actor that it didn't bother me all that much, I simply didn't understand why it was decided to have him play Locke (which I believe to be a Scottish surname, correct me if I'm wrong!) that way.

Does there need to be a reason? I liked that he just was. It gave him a bit more character. More rounded, like he came from somewhere.

It was like Jake Gyllenhaal's squint in Prisoners. Totally unnecessary, but makes him stand out more.

Your lack of empathy for the main character doesn't make it a bad movie...

You spelled "epic" wrong.

I like and appreciate slow burns, but I have to agree. It was monotonous and boring.

The protagonist is of strong character very likeable and I empathized with him immediately. It was an intelligent film , gripping emotionally and extremely suspenseful . It is outstanding to have all those elements work in a car! And they did magnificently!
