... Excerpts from Rey Will Be Rebuilding The Jedi Order Based On "What She Promised Luke" In New Star Wars Film:

In an interview with IGN, Kennedy discussed the announcements and shared some additional details on what fans can expect from Rey's film, saying, "...We're kind of post-war, post-First Order and the Jedi are in disarray and there's a lot of discussion around who are the Jedi, what are they doing, what's the state of the galaxy?

"And [Rey]'s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke so that's where we're going."

Kennedy added that she doesn't know if the film will "spend a lot of time in flashbacks or Force ghosts or things like that," but says the "spirit of what [Luke] represents to [Rey] is going to be significant."

... Excerpts from Daisy Ridley to Reprise Role as Rey in New ‘Star Wars’ Film :

The “Star Wars” movie future just came into sharper focus: Daisy Ridley’s Rey will be the center of the first “Star Wars” feature film since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced at Star Wars Celebration in London on Friday. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”) will direct from a script by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”). The film follows the events of “Rise of Skywalker,” and will focus on Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.

The project marks several major milestones for the franchise: Obaid-Chinoy is the first woman and the first person of color to direct a “Star Wars” movie. The Pakistani filmmaker won two Academy Awards for documentary short, in 2011 for “Saving Face” and in 2015 for “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness,” and she most recently directed two episodes of “Ms. Marvel” for Disney+.

Along with Obaid-Chinoy’s film, Kennedy also announced that James Mangold (who just directed Lucasfilm’s upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”) and Dave Filoni (executive producer of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka”) will direct upcoming “Star Wars” movies.

... Excerpts from Star Wars announces three new films on the way, with Daisy Ridley to return as Rey:

The two new films will be overseen by the James Mangold, the director of Logan, and Dave Filoni, the co-creator of The Mandalorian TV series and director of the 2008 computer animated feature Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Kennedy said that Mangold’s movie will “tell the tale of the first Jedi to wield the Force and harness it as a liberating power in an era of chaos and oppression”, while Filoni’s film is about “the escalating war between the Imperial Remnant and the fledgling New Republic” and will “close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series”.

The third film to be announced, a project to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, has been known about for some time, but appears to have been dogged by changes of direction and staff departures. Obaid-Chinoy’s film will take place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and feature Daisy Ridley returning in the role of Rey; it will “tell the story of rebuilding the New Jedi Order and the powers that rise to tear it down”. Lucasfilm recently announced that Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight had replaced Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson as writers on that film.
