Discuss Surviving the Game

I've seen a couple, including this one. This is the most entertaining one IMO, by far. To be frank, it's just a little funny to see people be this mean to each other LOL. I'm mostly referring to Charles S. Dutton in his scene with Ice-T just as Dutton kicks off the you-know-what. Of course, Ernest Dickerson did a good job making sure the film was well shot. It's an early film of Dickerson's, so I can see how his directorial chops weren't as strong as can be. I enjoyed the usage of Miles Davis' "Blue in Green" when Ice's character gets a bath.

The thing about Ice's acting is he's really good when he's being intense, and he's also good when he's expressing subtle pathos (which this character is justifiably full of). So I can't really say Ice is a "one note actor." He just seems to come off like his full range could be stronger overall... I mean even in the "Law and Order" shows, he pretty much seems to stay in one zone as a thespian... feel free to correct me if you've seen more from him than that... much respect, Ice...... I rate this flick a solid 6/10.

Is this the song you heard?

Maybe... was impressed that a song from Kind of Blue came up in this type of movie. It's either that or the one I mentioned. Thanks again as always, cuz ya know we're none of us perfect.

Thanks... I knew all of that; perhaps I didn't make myself perfectly lucid in that other post.

As I still believe, none of us is perfect.

I wasn't criticizing you in either of my posts. I'm sorry if you got that impression. I was trying to help, but obviously, I failed.

Yeah; it wasn't until Tales From The Hood that his capabilities really became apparent. Not being sarcastic here either; TFTH is a barbarically underrated and underseen movie

Ha, yeah, that's a good horror film for sure.

feel free to correct me if you've seen more from him than that...

He ain't bad, compared to many other musicians who've tried their hands at acting. The bar isn't high though, when Ice's competitors consists of such cinematic luminaries as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dog, Justin Timberlake, Ice Cube(yeah; I know this one might be controversial), Pat Boone, etc etc. Describing Ice T as a stronger actor than folks like those aforementioned is a bit like saying that whoever prepares Delta's in-flight meals is a more conscientious chef than Jeffery Dahmer was

Oh, I agree with the last sentence. IIRC, Cube got nominated for an Oscar back in the nineties, so of course there might be argument back and forth about his skills as a thespian.

That would be a nope!

Great, thanks.. I hope you did your research and aren't just playing a game there.

Happy holidays.
