If you liked BARAKA, I would definitely recommend FATA MORGANA (1971) by Werner Herzog. Very similar visual aproach to BARAKA. Aside from the mystical landscapes, take for example the static shots of individuals staring into the camera. It's all in there. There's a good chance Herzog's film served as a major inspiration to Fricke's film or its predecessor KOYAANISQATSI.
Naturally BARAKA's follow-up – SAMSARA – continues the same approach. Any other similar films? I like to call them "poetic documentaries".
