Für sie könnte es immer so weiter gehen mit endlosen Konsensdiskussionen, Schafe scheren und nacktem Gemeinschaftsbaden. Eines Tages bekommen die Flachland-Kommunarden Zuwachs durch die beiden Städter Hanne und ihren Sohn Niels. Während Hanne sich überraschend schnell an Schreitherapie und Gemüseaufzucht gewöhnt - und noch viel schneller an die Tantra-Spiele mit Kommunenguru Peter - hat Niels immer weniger Lust auf die dogmatischen WG-Regeln. Aus Trotz schließt er sich dem gewaltbereiten AKW-Widerstand an und bringt das beschauliche Chaos der Kommune damit reichlich durcheinander. Zum großen Knall kommt es aber erst, als im entfernten Tschernobyl ein Reaktor explodiert. Genau an dem Tag als Bobby Ewing stirbt, der Erdölprinz aus "Dallas" und Serienliebling der Kommune.

May Day celebrations begin, children play and the residents of Pripyat marvel at the spectacular fire raging at the reactor. After three days, an area the size of England becomes contaminated with radioactive dust, creating a 'zone' of poisoned land. Based on Mario Petrucci's award-winning book-length poem (split over two books), 'Heavy Water: a film for Chernobyl', and the shorter version 'Half Life: a Journey to Chernobyl", tells the story of the people who dealt with the disaster at ground-level: the fire-fighters, soldiers, 'liquidators', and their families.
