Due fratelli, Charlie e Alan, per necessità si trovano a condividere lo stesso tetto, una grande villa sulla spiaggia. I due uomini e mezzo quindi danno vita a storie comiche nelle quali spesso entra prepotentemente anche la madre dei fratelli, Evelyn, una ricca agente immobiliare ma con la quale i due, sia Charlie che Alan, hanno un rapporto conflittuale.
