This show is really good. It does have its own formula, but that's not a problem, lots of succesful shows have their own formulas (like Modern Family which usually has characters underestimate each other and then get shown up in a funny way during the episode's resolution). The formula here is the mayor has a problem, he tries to fix it in a stereotypical way and that backfires, so he tries again and figures out an unconventional solution. Its a fun and gentle show, but the writing is on the wall, its gonna get cancelled. The TV grim reaper has it at 0% chance of renewal.
