Mr. Mercedes is the first part in Stephen Kings Trilogy revolving around Detective Bill Hodges. The books are fantastic so always a little skeptical when one of his adaptations is brought to celluloid. Watched part 1 last night and looks like they are remaining pretty faithful to the source material. The fact that it is airing on Direct TV as well and not regular TV means they left in the gore and other adult content. The opening scene nailed it.

I'm watching the pilot right now. I've been a King fan since I was a kid back in the early 80s. With few exceptions I've loved the movies that have derived from them. This is right up there with It.
And this show is making me want to go read the book(s). That hasn't happened for me in a LONG time.
What I like about it being on DirecTV is that it's unlikely to get cancelled due to any low ratings. It will air in its entirety and I'm glad.

I want to see it but I cant because I am with comcast.I hope that they put the series on DVD
