Unfortunately, HBO has cancelled Vinyl after initially renewing the show for a second season. It was a pretty good show, in my opinion, so I'm a bit disappointed. Perhaps Scorsese will find another venue but it's doubtful.

Martin Scorsese should just stick to films, in my humble opinion. That's what he's a boss at.

Thought most of Boardwalk Empire was great. But Vinyl really didn't grab me. I did only watch the 1st episode but it wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would have an Almost Famous kind of vibe, but it just felt like an interesting 70's music theme squeezed into typical Scorsese gangster tropes. And done in an uninteresting way. They were the same characters we'd seen millions of times before. And the decision to use made up bands instead of real ones was a major mistake.

Not surprised really.
It lacked freshness.

I thought Vinyl was a chore to watch. The first season lacked any characters that I liked, the story took forever to get going, and the "gangster" bit was unnecessary.
I am not surprised that this ended up being canceled.

It appears that HBO made the right call. I'm the only one that liked it.
