Is the Kalavirus the catalyst for time travel? If Olivia had Titan and time travel, does she really need the virus, it seems like Cole was willing to kill 7 million in a last ditch effort to stop the 12 Monkeys, I am not sure if the virus was significant when they operating behind the scenes manipulating things to achieve their goals.

Without the virus, Jones never would have invented time travel to save everyone. Hence, no Titan, no Witness, no 12 monkeys.
