Discuss Gotham

Hi. First time viewer here!

Enjoying the show but one thing stands out as pretty amusing - How are the Gotham police able to continue functioning? They seem to lose about a dozen officers minimum every other episode!

Where are they getting the replacements from? And who's volunteering to sign up with this force?! Your chances of survival must be very close to zero...

It's fun to watch. However, everyone on the show is insane. Even Gordon, who is crazy about his wife and girlfriend. Though, not crazy enough to end up in Arkham Asylum. If you're not one of the main characters, your career choice is limited to a low paying job like cop or crook. Unless you want to be just a citizen who has to pay the police and the criminals to keep them off your back.

On other shows, like "Hawaii Five-O" (police) and "Star Trek" (red shirts), these characters are also expendables.

So, why choose this dangerous job in Gotham City? Perhaps because you don't have a choice or you think that you won't be the one killed. There are cops who stay alive and you have the experience and luck to be one of them. A foolish thought?

"You must be crazy to work there."

As I've said in the beginning. Everyone is insane.

It reminded me of Diagnosis Murder. If you were in an ambulance and they told you they were taking you to Community General you'd be desperately trying to get yourself off the gurney and out of there with everything you had left in your body 😂.
