For me, Lorne Malvo was one of the best TV characters ever created. He's number two on my list right behind Dexter Morgan. I loved how devious and remorseless he was. Billy Bob did a terrific job playing him.

Maybe. And maybe we're getting the bad guys mixed up on purpose. Maybe it was a distraction. And maybe I'm just thinking too much. I used to love Sy and was worried for him. Now I'm wondering what he's really been up to concerning Emmit. Does anybody have an idea about how the Bear's Den meeting came about? And when Varga got into Emmit's car in The House of Special Purpose ep, one of the first things he said was that he didn't "trust" Sy. Now if Varga is trying to screw them both, you would figure that he wouldn't trust either of them ever. But he seemed to be telling Emmit something, like a heads-up kind of tip.

Could be. They ALL seem like bad guys to me- except Gloria and the other lady cop. I thought Varga was trying to make Emmit get rid of Sy because he obviously hates Jewish people.

Yeah Varga says some nasty, offensive, misogynist stuff. I'm still wondering if that's really him, or if he says those things only when he thinks it will register with Yuri and Meeko, or someone else who's really running things. As I said in another post, I think Y, M and Varga are all being threatened and manipulated by someone higher up to pull their moving-in hi jinks. Meeko may be listening constantly for word of what to do from this higher up. And higher up may be listening to what Y, M and V actually do around the office.

It's not that he hates jews, Sy is an obstacle to him because Emmit is easier to manipulate. He could have used any characteristic to undermine his trust, like when he told Sy his wife isn't trustworthy because she's fat.

I believe he does. Emmit may be easier to manipulate, but Sy is a spineless wimp. Varga refered to Sy's wife as a fat Jew.

I still think that Varga will say whatever he has to. He has to create a threatening presence to get whatever it is he wants people to do. And if he's saving his own a@@ in the process, so much more so will he become an offensive/hostile bastard. I could be wrong, but I think he's only provoking the reaction he wants to see. He's not really anti-Semitic or misogynist for that matter.

Let me add how desperate I think Varga is.

Let's just agree to disagree.

Sure, the truth is no one's really sure 'til we see a few more episodes.

He was great. Although I'm really starting to like VM Varga as well.
