Adam does not get the part he wanted in the school musical, leading Beverly to cast him in a rival show. Murray insists on leaving sporting events early to avoid traffic.

Beverly intervenes after Mr. Meller singles Adam out; Erica beats Barry at a new board game.

Adam and Barry get in a prank war, while Erica tries to become a pop star.

Murray is happy to hear that Adam wants to participate in a school sport -- until he finds out it's fencing; Beverly tries to play matchmaker for Barry's wrestling coach and Erica's voice teacher.

Beverly asks Miss Cinoman to let Adam -- who is going through puberty -- lip sync in the school musical. Murray inspires Erica to go to the homecoming dance with Geoff Schwartz.

Barry starts to make fun of Adam for wanting to join theater until he finds out that Adam and Lainey have been cast in roles that require them to kiss; Barry decides to sabotage the production by joining the stage crew.

After finding out there is only going to be one Hanukkah song in the Holiday Pageant, Beverly convinces Erica to create the perfect song to bring some excitement to the holiday. Erica sees her shot to break into the music business while Barry does his best to prove he too can be a hit maker with music. Meanwhile, Adam’s childlike wonder with movies and entertainment is called into question when things he loved as a child aren’t as good as he remembers.

The Goldbergs-inspired special event picks up at William Penn Academy in the 1990s as now Head of School John Glascott leads a faculty of teachers with wildly different views on how to mentor students and recruits his tough-as-nails-sister Lucy to join his staff and enroll her teenage daughters, Felicia and Gigi, as new students.

Barry enlists the JTP to help him break up Beverly's group of friends so Barry can have all the attention but soon realizes he made a major mistake when Beverly gets into a fight with her friends. Meanwhile, Adam’s attempts to trick Murray into loving theater backfires.

Murray becomes an overzealous stage parent when he learns Adam has no interest in the school production of “Fiddler on the Roof.” Meanwhile, Beverly can’t seem to keep from interfering with Erica’s latest career plan.

Beverly and Adam team up to do a mother-son cooking show on public access television; and when Barry ruins the one college letter of recommendation he is able to get, Murray must step in to help.

When Adam unintentionally lets it slip that Barry never completed his community service requirement, the brothers join together to throw the greatest breakdancing battle in the history of William Penn. Geoff's stress levels are at an all-time high, so Erica makes an adult decision and plans for them to follow the Grateful Dead all summer. Finally, it's the end of an era when the JTP graduates from high school.

While at school, Erica attempts to fool Beverly into thinking Parents Weekend has been rescheduled to Parents Thursday so the family won’t attend. Meanwhile, William Penn is doing “Romeo & Juliet,” the perfect play for Adam to romance Dana until someone else gets the leading lady.

Business rival and nemesis "Formica" Mike attempts to make an offer Murray can't refuse by buying Ottoman Empire. Meanwhile, Adam offers Ms. Cinoman his and Erica's original show when William Penn cannot secure the rights to a well-known spring musical to stage.

After realizing there may be trouble in lovers' paradise for Erica and Geoff, Beverly involves herself in their relationship as well as Barry and Joanne's to make sure everyone stays together. Meanwhile, Adam and Brea are cast opposite of each other in the school play, but their excitement for one another's success grows dim when one starts to outshine the other onstage.

Trying to move on from their breakup, Erica goes on a date with a guy from the coffee shop while Geoff ends up on an episode of "The Dating Game," which winds up making things even more difficult for them both. Meanwhile, Beverly is thrilled to learn that Murray has spontaneously purchased a shore house until she realizes it's not quite the luxury home she imagined.
