In the first seasons Reddington was enigmatic, omniscient and invincible with a chilling sense of humor. He had a small but efficient team he could rely on. Trust was the glue that held them together. As time passed this gradually eroded to a point where he now is truly alone.
He has alienated everyone or has he? Anyone still in his corner?

That is the current plot line, to be sure. I was shocked when he shot Kate. And Dembe certainly did not approve. And now we see how deeply his disapproval runs. Red has gotten dangerously close to alienating everyone. Ressler has begun speaking very critically of Red again. For a time he quit his critical comments about Red. He never approved of his criminal life, but he seemed to have come to terms with the arrangement and appreciated the good the task force was doing with Red's help. But recently Donald has begun complaining frequently about the benefits Reddington gets from the arrangement. Cooper has also become more critical.
The writers have decided to isolate Reddington more and more. He has his external enemies as always. But now he is alienating his allies in the FBI and also his business partners and associates (as he forced them to meet so he could accuse one of them of betraying him). He already lost Kate when he shot her. And that upset Dembe, who has now abandoned him.
The writing is really good in this show. I am still hooked and interested to see where they take this plot line. Red will have to have some kind of epiphany in order to save himself and his businesses.
