Discuss JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Item: It's a Wonderful World (5x38)

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: This episode along with the entire "part" (consisting of episodes 25-38) should have their air date set to December 1, 2022. In fact, they WERE set to this, then they were changed to April 2023 and locked.

The episodes are literally available right now, how could their air date be next year? TVDB shows the proper dates, as you can see here:

https://thetvdb.com/series/jojos-bizarre-adventure-2012/seasons/official/5

Can somebody explain why this was changed to April 2023 if they are watchable and released right now? This has totally wrecked Plex, too, as now these episodes will be at the top of the "recently released" list for the next four months. Please fix, or explain.

Edit:

To add - I read other replies regarding your "technicality" that it's because it airs on Tokyo MX or whatever. Can we just drop the nonsense and openly admit it's absurd? Your database is stating that episodes we can all watch right now don't release for four months. If you have incorrect information because of a "technicality" it might be time to change that technicality.

Also, as stated elsewhere, this should be considered an ONA. Even MAL, pretty much the definitive source for info on this sort of thing, lists Stone Ocean as an ONA:

https://myanimelist.net/anime/48661/JoJo_no_Kimyou_na_Bouken_Part_6__Stone_Ocean

I get you guys have these technicalities you stick to, but in this instance they're wrong. You had the correct information and everything was fine until one of you decided to change it on a whim because of said technicality. Why? What's the point?

Also, if you don't know, ONA means "original net anime". Here's some clarification:

"An original net animation (ONA), known in Japan as web anime (ウェブアニメ, webu anime), is an anime that is directly released onto the Internet. ONAs may also have been aired on television if they were first directly released on the Internet."

Your excuse in the thread I'm sure you'll link to is:

" No, 'only the very first network to air the series should be added to the network list' and also 'It is common for television series to be also released on various VOD services around the time of airing. They should not be added to the network field. '"

... and that's great, except it doesn't apply. This was not released on "various VOD services around the time of airing." It was released FIVE MONTHS before the time of airing. By your own writing, this does not apply. How far apart do they need to be for you to not consider them "around" each other? If it came out five years beforehand, would you still quote that?

I said it once and I'll say it again - you're quoting ridiculous technicalities to make using this database more difficult for your users. Your rules are there to keep content consice and accurate, not so you can quote arbitrary subsections of some bloated rule list to justify why a bad change isn't actually bad. You might sit here and argue that the choice is "technically right" - and I'll debate you on that point, too - but can you really sit here and say that it's what's best for your users, especially when the users are literally sitting here making multiple complaints?

This is the only site to do this. Seriously, look:

TVDB, accurate with Dec 1st:

https://thetvdb.com/series/jojos-bizarre-adventure-2012/seasons/official/5

MAL, Dec 1st:

https://myanimelist.net/anime/53273/JoJo_no_Kimyou_na_Bouken_Part_6__Stone_Ocean_Part_3/episode

IMDB, Dec 1st:

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2359704/episodes/?season=5

You guys are the only ones making a huge issue out of this for literally no other reason than whatever high you get from quoting RULE FOUR PARAGRAPH TWO SUBSECTION EIGHT or whatever just to show you can.

The explanations are the same that the ones given here for the previous batch of episodes.

Comparing with other sites is of no use as each site has its own set of rules.

Your response heavily states that it's due to the clause against "web previews".

This is not a preview, and you're stretching this limited, small entry in the rules to justify your obviously illogical usecase.

Your own rules also state:

"Networks can be defined as the original linear network or streaming service that first and originally aired an episode of a series"

Which specifically includes "streaming service."

Also, your rules state:

"...the rule will be that we will list the network with the first air date to be the network of record... "

As we've already determined, per your rules (what I specifically quoted above), a "network" includes streaming services if they are the first source of airing. In addition, the rule clearly states that in the case of there being two separate networks with two different air dates, the network with the first air date is prioritized.

Once again, you are desperately trying to justify a choice that makes no real-world sense and your users don't want, and the rules clearly allow you to fix it. It was already fixed in the first place before you arbitrarily decided to change it just to... I don't know, satisfy yourself?

This whole "original network only" thing isn't even upheld. The series page lists THREE networks - Tokyo MX, BS 11, and Abema - with a prominent "WATCH ON NETFLIX" button.

Again, if the rules are making the site more difficult for users to utilize and result in what is commonly accepted as inaccurate information, it's time to change the rules. Maybe that should be the discussion.
