遥远的未来，人类分裂成了以有人兵器Strain为主战力（联合）和以无人兵器Tomorrow为主战力（帝国）的两大阵营，从而开始了永无止息的战斗。现年16岁的塞拉·威拉克是联合阵营的名门少女，就读于克拉尼阿鲁星域的寄宿制リーズナー养成机关クラベラ空间机甲兵科学院，并且一心想成为リーズナー（Strain驾驶员）。成绩优秀的她的心中有个秘密，就是期望与最爱的哥哥再相会……为了寻找哥哥而踏上了旅途，在过程中遇见了艾米莉，洛特・盖拉，杰西・艾捷丝等朋友，结下了深厚的友谊。故事的最后，塞拉的哥哥在对塞拉的未来表示祝福后死亡。

In the distant future, mankind is divided into two factions: Union and Deague. They have waged a war against each other for so long that no one remembers when it first began.

Sara Werec, the daughter of a respectable family, is a 16-year old girl who attends a Space Academy where she is training to become a pilot. Her brother, Ralph Werec, had been sent to the frontline to accomplish a special mission when she was 11 years old. The two of them had lost their parents when they were young and the bond between the two is very close. It is Sara’s dearest wish to be reunited with her brother. To do that, she must travel to the battlefield where he is.

One day, Sara’s planet is suddenly assaulted by Deague forces. To her surprise, her brother, Ralph, turns out to be one of the raiders who successfully kidnap a mysterious girl sleeping in a capsule.

L'histoire se déroule dans un monde futuriste où deux camps s'affrontent dans une guerre interstellaire qui dure depuis des décennies.

Alors qu'elle est encore enfant, Sara Werec voit son frère Ralph partir pour la guerre et lui promet qu'un jour, elle le rejoindra pour combattre à ses côtés.

Pendant sa formation, elle suit les exploits de son frère qui devient rapidement un pilote reconnu. Mais un jour, il disparaît sans laisser de trace.

Peu après, l'école de Sara, qui forme les Reasoners, est attaquée et de nombreux étudiants sont tués mais ce qui choque la jeune fille plus que tout, c'est que le responsable de ce massacre n'est autre que Ralph, passé à l'ennemi !

Après ces événements, Sara n'a plus qu'un objectif en tête : retrouver son frère pour exiger des explications et, si nécessaire, le détruire.
