The scene I am not sure about is the one above. I am convinced that that scene was longer when I watched it years ago on the DVD. Like there's supposed to be a scene between 2:21 and 2:22 where Cy is bashing in Flora's skull with an open fist for a few good seconds, or punching her skull in with an open fist, pausing and then repeating it again quite a few times. The scene on the BluRay is the above and it no longer has an "Ouch!" effect to it. Very disappointing if the scene has been edited. Can anyone verify that the scene is longer? If not, then maybe because I was younger back then I remembered the scene as being a lot worse that it appears to be now. Perhaps Cy Tolliver killed someone else in the same way, although I am 100% sure it was Kristen Bell's character I am remembering.

Sorry for the overly long title. I didn't know what to call it without spoiling anything.

Thank you for any help given.

You may have remembered it longer ..... I just watched it yesterday and it was BRUTAL but not overly long.

You're right. it was Kristin Bell - I had to check it out because I knew it was someone but I could not remember her name. The funny thing is - the brother reminded me of someone but he wasn't in anything familiar to me.

Yeah, I had someone confirm that the scene is only what's shown in the above video, nothing has been removed on YouTube or on the BluRay etc. And there's no information on the Internet that the scene was ever longer. I would have just remembered the scene as being longer, it was a few years since I watched the scene again.

Anyway, thank you for your response. I appreciate it! :)

To my eye Powers Boothe had more than a passing resemblance to Gregory Peck both visually and with his voice.

That subplot with Flora Anderson and her brother, while well written and acted, didn't make a lot of sense to me. I get it that they are supposed to be grifters out of their depth as a way of showing how ruthless Cy Tolliver et al really were but the scheme was so badly conceived it was difficult for me treat the characters as 'real'.

On a final note, I thought the violence, particularly against women, was hugely oversold in Deadwood, and the final scenes with Anderson were a low point. Thankfully, in the second and third seasons it found a better balance.
