Discuss Only Murders in the Building

Excellent cast and terrific, clever writing make this a must-see. The interplay among the three lead actors is quite amusing. Even the supporting cast is great (e.g., Tina Fey, rocker Sting, Amy Ryan, etc.). I've seen only the first four of this first season's seven episodes, but I'm hooked. I'll probably binge-watch episodes 5-7 tonight.

I have been reluctant to watch this because of Gomez. Is she an asset or a hindrance to the show?

I think she's definitely an asset; but if you have a personal dislike of her for some reason, then you might not agree. I think her character is a nice contrast to the characters played by Martin and Short. At some point, I almost expect her to say, "O.K., Boomer!" to the two fuddy-duddies.

Not sure why but she is one of those Disney kids that I wish would just go away? Thanks for your reply.

The series is rated 8.3 and I think she works well in the show. Remember that on "Wizards of Waverly Place" et al., she was playing a role according to a script, just as she is here. Maybe you're unconsciously typecasting her or confusing her w/her past character(s). Is it possible that she's so good at disappearing into a role that you think the character is actually like her?

I think some other former Disney kids experienced the same problem that you have w/her. E.g., Kurt Russell, Annette Funicello and the original 1950s Mouseketeers, etc.. Read a bunch of IMDb reviews to get more perspective, or just watch a few episodes and see what you think. I really like her in this role, although I have no other experience w/her roles.

BTW, I'm not sure, but I think I detect a hint of Ed Grimley in Martin Short's character, I must say.

I love Ed!
