Illogical as the decision was, it's in line with Superman being a Christ allegory. Just as The Riz does battle with Satan himself in three different gospels, Kal-El tangles with Zod, who was cast out by the father(Jor El)and fell to Earth subsequently

Was it Jor-El that actually cast him out? If I remember correctly he simply acted as a witness while the judges cast him out. Meh, I guess it is the same thing.
