本片的故事情节非常简单，取景于一个花园。园丁在花园里手持水管给花圃浇水。顽皮的小男孩刚好路过，便开始了他的恶作剧。他偷偷的用脚踩住水管，使水流停止。纳闷的园丁正低头检查水管口时，小男孩一下子缩回了脚。园丁被喷得一脸水，小男孩则在身后得意的坏笑。生气的园丁追着小男孩一顿打，然后接着给花圃浇水。短短一分钟的生活片段，却上演了一出蕴含噱头的喜剧故事。

A gardener is watering his flowers, when a mischievous boy sneaks up behind his back, and puts a foot on the water hose. The gardener is surprised and looks into the nozzle to find out why the water has stopped coming. The boy then lifts his foot from the hose, whereby the water squirts up in the gardener's face. The gardener chases the boy, grips his ear and slaps him in his buttocks. The boy then runs away and the gardener continues his watering. Three separate versions of this film exist, this is the original, filmed by Louis Lumière.

Un jardinier arrose son jardin. Un enfant, arrivé par derrière, met le pied sur le tuyau d'arrosage. L'homme regarde le bec du tuyau, pensant qu'il est bouché. Le petit espiègle retire son pied et le jardinier est aspergé. Il court ensuite après le jeune garçon, l'attrape, lui donne une fessée et (dans la seconde version du film) l'arrose à son tour.

Rodado en 1895 por Louis Lumière, "El Regador Regado" está considerada como la primera película de ficción de la historia del cine. La historia es tan simple como la broma que un chico le gasta a un jardinero pisando la goma cuando éste riega un jardín. En el momento en el que el segundo inspecciona la manguera para ver qué ocurre, el muchacho levanta el pie y el hombre acaba empapado, empezando la persecución para darle su escarmiento al niño. Simple, directo y efectivo. Uno de los primeros gags de la historia del celuloide, que arrancó la carcajada del entonces inocente y sorprendido público. (FILMAFFINITY)
