Why does the black guy try to break a woman's jaw with the barbell? So she bounced a ball into a pervert's ball sack but did she really deserve to have her face smashed in?
A totally WTF moment.
Okay guys, we need to show the audience that Ripley's blood has highly corrosive properties. I know, let's have a guy smash her in the face with a metal bar!

Actually I love this scene very much but I agree with you - "breaking a woman's jaw with a barbell" was too much and too brutal
