Discuss Wormwood

I know this is often confusing, but shouldn't this be merged with the Wormwood entry found here?

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/73581-wormwood

I'm not even sure if this is the proper place to report duplicates, but wanted to make someone aware. Hopefully we can MERGE these two entries so as to preserve the best of all data that has been contributed.

Thanks for your report! slight_smile

Miniseries like this one are currently allowed in both the TV and the movie section. We however decided to discontinue our 'miniseries are allowed in the movie section' exception. The movie entries will be deleted starting February 16.

This is the proper place. Even better would be if you just click on the "Report" link on the respective page (in the top navigation) and select whatever problem it is you found, preferably with some extra details. mouse2

@Daddie0,

Rebecca just informed me that Wormwood was screened at the 44th Telluride Film Festival in it's entirety -> look at this PDF document, page 11:

http://telluridefilmfestival.org/assets/pdfs/44th-TFF-program-guide-FINAL.pdf

This means in this specific case that the movie entry will not be deleted after February 16th, because it's allowed as an exception in both the movie and the tv section. I wasn't aware of this screening, so forget what I wrote above. fox

@janar72 Sorry to reopen, but I didn't know any other way to follow up with a few thoughts. First, thanks for the info about the "report" function...I'll try to remember that in the future.

As to leaving both open, I guess I understand the logic of that protocol, but my heart really lies with the TMDB community and it seems crazy to have two sets of data, discussions and different ratings for the same content. I'm assuming the "screening release" was cut differently perhaps? Is this same logic used for other "editions" of films? I'm good with it, but I'm not sure I'm going to check for screenings before reporting future duplicates. This may become even more problematic as films/tv series(?) release on different platforms at the same time. It's a minor issue, but seems odd, especially for TMDB.

Again, thanks for the info and your work on TMBD.

Don't worry, you can always re-open any discussion/report when you think you have to add something, or you think something is wrong with the reply, or for any other relevant reason. grinning

Yes, exactly. As long as I remember, that's one of the main reasons why it was decided that the old general rule "miniseries are allowed in the movie section" will be discontinued after February 16th -> duplicates of any kind are just bad in many ways for the database. However, it was also decided to make an exception for "miniseries screened in full at a film festival or as a film in theater" (and a few other's that I don't want to mention here). Unfortunately, I can't say why this exception was made -> I looked into a few old threads to find a definite answer, but I couldn't find one. I'll keep this discussion open for another moderator to answer that.

No, I guess that's not the reason. As long as I know, the screening at Telluride was the same cut -> and I don't think our exception has anything to do with cuts of the content. I assume it has to do with how it was seen by the people that attended the Festival and the press that talked about it -> as a movie, not a tv miniseries. But, as I wrote, another moderator has to answer that definitely.

I'm good with it, but I'm not sure I'm going to check for screenings before reporting future duplicates. This may become even more problematic as films/tv series(?) release on different platforms at the same time. It's a minor issue, but seems odd, especially for TMDB.

You don't have to check -> just report anything that you think might be wrong. If I remember correctly, other moderators, especially Rebecca, spent hours and hours checking miniseries in the last months and made a long list of movies that will be deleted, next to a few exceptions. And, most of the time, reports are being discussed and checked among moderators before any decision is made. Sometimes, it's just very complicated ... worried

Again, thanks for the info and your work on TMBD.

I think that doesn’t make it an exception because we have the screened in cinema flag for that right? Maybe double check with Travis.... but otherwise i don’t see the point of the screening flag πŸ˜‚ it was precisely for those series/episodes that were also released in cinema or festivals.

You can add the flag on season level for this one then.

Miniseries screened in full are still listed as an exception in the bible right now. But that is the one that will expire soon.

Yes, I agree with @alltimemarr. This is the reason I added the episode screened theatrical flag isn't it? confused

@travisbell maybe you should post in this thread about what your idea was behind the "miniseries and one-offs to be deleted and setting the theatrical flag instead".
